Crack repair (from Kim Satchy, Fineline)
Create grooves whereever cracks.
Mesh tape. 45 or 90 minute compound for first two coats
Use quicker drying mud for the first/second coats and the pre-mix (Joint Compound) for the final coats.
Finish with Joint Compound (a softer topping)
The faster drying ones sand harder than the slower drying ones. The 90 minute stuff is still very sandable, 45 is still doable, but you wouldn't want to sand the 20 minute stuff.
Water putty doesn't shrink, spackle shrinks.

When shopping for water-based sealers, look for a low-VOC product (less than 250 g/L). Many products achieve levels as low as 50 g/L. (If you must use a sealer containing glycol ether, propylene glycol and ethylene glycol are less toxic types.)
Add white vinegar to water to clean hardwood floor. Removes wax build up. (Recommendations range from one teaspoon to one cup per gallon.) Mineral spirits (smelly) can also be used to clean floor, removes wax but doesn't remove poly.

Sydney recommended using 10% if we want to avoid oil, but it seems good from shelf test.
Had us buy naphtha (# 610 below) as a way to dilute.
We were trying to avoid oil since others produced a shine on grain, but steel wool can remove shine.
Need to get a darker version for shelves.
